About This Call
Women & Their Work requests applications for their 2019-2020 Solo Exhibition Series. Women artists currently residing in Texas who have not had a solo exhibition at Women & Their Work within the past ten years are eligible. The organization uses an inclusive definition of "woman" and welcomes any artists who identify as women in a way that is significant to them. Undergraduate students and Masters degree candidates are not eligible unless they will have graduated before March 2019.
Women & Their Work seeks artists who create inventive, high-caliber contemporary art that breaks new ground or proposes innovative approaches to form and content. Selections are based on evaluation of submitted work, with preference for a strong, consistent aesthetic vision. Recently created work in all media will be considered. Selected artists are strongly encouraged to create new work for their exhibition; no work previously exhibited in Austin will be accepted. The work submitted should demonstrate capability to create a powerful solo exhibition for the approximately 1,700 square foot gallery space.
Applications must include up to 10 images of 2-D and/or 3-D work (including up to 4 videos, with only the first three minutes viewable), a one-page artist statement, a current resume, and a $30 application fee. The application deadline is March 30, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. CDT. Applicants will be notified by May 15, 2018. Six-week solo exhibitions will be scheduled between March 2019 and December 2020. Selected artists will receive a $1,500 honorarium, a modest honorarium for a Curatorial Advisor, a published catalog with commissioned essay, a six-minute video of the artist discussing their work, and optional public programming. Artists receive 75% of sales from work sold during their exhibition. Women & Their Work will insure artwork while in its custody; artists are responsible for transportation.
