About This Call
Women & Their Work requests applications for the 2017-2018 Solo Exhibition Series. Women artists currently residing in Texas are eligible if they have not had a solo exhibition at Women & Their Work within the past five years. Recently created work in all media will be considered. Selected artists will premiere in 6-week solo exhibitions occurring between November 2017 and December 2018.
Women & Their Work seeks artists who create inventive, high-caliber contemporary art that breaks new ground or proposes innovative approaches to form and content. Selections are based on evaluation of submitted work, with preference for strong, consistent aesthetic vision. No work that has previously been exhibited in Austin will be accepted. The work should demonstrate capability to create a powerful solo exhibition for the 1,700 square foot gallery (approximately 10.5 feet high ceilings, track lighting, seven moveable walls, projectors and sound equipment available).
Applications must include: up to 10 images of 2-D and/or 3-D work (up to four videos, with only three minutes of each video viewable), a one-page artist's statement describing your work and aesthetic vision, and a current résumé. A $25 processing fee is required. Deadline: December 16, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Applicants will be notified by email on February 24, 2017.
Selected artists receive a $1,500 honorarium, curatorial advisor support, a commissioned essay published in a color catalog, and a six-minute video of the artist discussing their work featured in the gallery, on the website, and on YouTube. Artists receive 75% of the sale price of any work sold during their exhibition. Women & Their Work will insure artwork while in its custody; artists are responsible for transportation.
