About This Call
Women & Their Work requests applications for the 2016-2017 Solo Exhibition Series. Women artists residing in Texas who have not had a solo exhibition at Women & Their Work within the past five years are eligible. Recently created work in all media will be considered. Artists must be able to exhibit their work by May 2016.
Women & Their Work seeks artists who create inventive, high-caliber contemporary art that breaks new ground or proposes innovative approaches to form and content. Selections are based on evaluation of submitted work, with preference for strong, consistent aesthetic vision. No work that has previously been exhibited in Austin will be accepted. Selected artists will premiere in 6-week solo exhibitions occurring between May 2016 and May 2017. The gallery is approximately 1,700 square feet with 10.5-foot ceilings, track lighting, seven moveable walls, and available projectors and sound equipment.
Applications require ten images of 2-D, 3-D, or video work; a one-page artist's statement; a current résumé; and a $25 processing fee. Deadline for all applications is August 19, 2015. Applicants will be notified by October 1, 2015. Selected artists will receive a $600 honorarium, a curatorial advisor for exhibition development, a commissioned essay about their work, and a catalog featuring their work distributed to over 100 galleries and museums nationwide. Artists receive 75% of the sale price for any work sold during their exhibition. Women & Their Work will insure artwork while in its custody; artists are responsible for transportation.
