Women. Defining our Representation

Black House Artist, a network dedicated to empowering women artists, announces "Women. Defining our Representation," an art exhibition and prize that celebrates the multiplicity of women's identities, individuality, complexity, and worth. The exhibition calls upon women artists to reclaim their narratives and aims to inspire reflection, understanding, and empathy for the diverse and authentic experiences of women by celebrating accomplishments, challenging stereotypes, exploring gender expression, and sharing personal realities.

One winner will receive a $1,000 USD first place prize. Thirty artists will be accepted into the online exhibition and invited to a live artists roundtable on BlackHouseArtist.com. Selected artists will also receive social media marketing for winning pieces and consideration for future one-on-one podcast interviews. The exhibition runs from July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024, with a live/recorded artist roundtable scheduled for July 10, 2024 via Zoom.

Women artists worldwide, 18 years or older, are eligible to submit 2D or 3D visual art including painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, photography, digital arts, sculpture, and mixed media. Video and film submissions are not accepted. Artwork created through AI technology must be labeled as such and will not be allowed for sale, only for display. Submit 1-3 JPEG images (1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB, sRGB color profile). The submission fee is $35.00 USD. Submission deadline is June 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Jury selection occurs June 2-27, 2024, with winners announced June 28, 2024 by email. For artwork listed for sale, Black House Artist receives 30% of the sale price for the first 6 months of the exhibition; after 6 months, artwork may remain on display for up to 1 year with no commission.
