WJA Diva Design Competition 2010

The 2010 DIVA DESIGN COMPETITION theme is A New Dawn, commemorating a new time in our culture and celebrating the awakening of social consciousness, financial respect and responsibility towards ourselves and each other. This contest celebrates joy and beauty in fine jewelry.

There are three entry categories: Daytime Jewels (everyday jewelry that addresses social consciousness through fair trade or environmentally low-impact materials/production or commemorative themes), Evening Jewels (fine jewelry celebrating timeless design with modern and fresh aesthetics), and New Media (exploration of new materials, techniques and components in fine jewelry). Winning designs will be selected on the basis of originality, creativity, wearability and interpretation of the theme. First place in each category receives $500. There will be two runner-ups in each category that receive a certificate. The design must be capable of being produced and will be judged by a panel of industry experts.

Applicants may submit 1-3 designs in any media (rendering, CADCAM, finished jewel, etc.). Entry fee is $35.00 for the first design and $20.00 for each additional design up to 3. A statement (1000 character limit) describing background, training and professional accomplishments is required, along with an explanation of how the design fits the category title. Winners will be notified in advance and announced at a press conference at the JCK Show on Friday, June 4, 2010 in Las Vegas. Winners will also be celebrated at the WJA DIVA Awards Reception on June 4, 2010 in Las Vegas.
