With Bated Breath

Gallery 114, an artist-owned and artist-run collective in Portland's Pearl District, presents "With Bated Breath," a juried invitational exhibition for January 2020. The call seeks work that captures the sensation of breathing shallowly in response to heightened anticipation—art stimulated by whatever might be around the corner and that speaks to hopes and anxieties, whether personal, political, cultural, or global.

All 2 and 3 dimensional media are welcome. Works must be original, with individual pieces not exceeding 7 feet in height and 5 feet in width. Prices for a single piece should not exceed $5,000. Submit 1-3 images through CaFÉ at CallForEntry.org. Entry fee is $35 for three submissions. Deadline for submission is November 22, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists will be notified on November 24, 2019.

The exhibition runs January 2-26, 2020, with an opening reception on Thursday, January 2 from 6-9pm. Accepted works must arrive by December 29, 2019 (local delivery) or December 27, 2019 (FedEx delivery to 1625 NE 7th Ave, Portland, OR 97232). Each entry must be installation-ready with appropriate hanging hardware, framing, and clearly labeled with artist name and title. Gallery 114 will insure works on site for market value. A 35% commission applies to sales, with checks sent to artists at the end of the exhibition minus shipping and sale-related fees. All work must be picked up by 5pm January 26, 2020, or will be returned during the two weeks following the close of the exhibition.
