About This Call
The 36th Annual Winter Art Fair Off the Square is an indoor fair held in downtown Madison's beautiful and spacious Exhibition Hall of the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. Approximately 135 booths are available and artists can drive into the building, but not to their booths. The fair is one of two juried fairs sponsored and produced by the Wisconsin Alliance of Artists and Craftspeople, Inc. (WAAC), a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation formed to promote and create contact between Wisconsin artists and craftspeople and the public. WAAC takes pride in having been created and operated by the artists themselves.
The fair features a Silent Auction on Saturday and a Young Collectors' Corner where children 12 and under may purchase art at child-sized prices without adult supervision on both days. All art in both areas are by exhibiting artists. Patron admission is $5.00 at the door, with children under 12 admitted free. Fair hours are Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Application requirements include 5 images, a booth shot, and a $5.00 application fee. Emerging artists are accepted. Artists may jury in up to six categories with a $30 jury fee per category. Media categories include Ceramics, Digital Media, Fiber, Glass, Graphics, Jewelry, Mixed Media 2D, Mixed Media 3D, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, and Wood. All work displayed must be designed and executed by the artist. Once accepted, exhibitors will not be required to jury for the next two years, providing their work remains up to standard and no rule violations occur.
