Windsor History Museum Depot Entryway Mural Project

The Town of Windsor Museums is completing renovations in the Train Depot at the Windsor History Museum in preparation for the 50th anniversary of when the Depot was relocated to its current spot and transformed into a museum. Museum staff are accepting proposals for a mural in the entryway of the Depot. The aim of this project is to create an art piece to welcome visitors into the museum. The mural should be historically accurate, utilize a style similar to WPA murals of the 30s, and be inspired by historical photos.

The mural area is roughly 75 square feet and will require a ladder to reach. The budget for this project is $3,000 ($40 per square foot). Applicants must submit a brief letter of intent describing their interest and proposed design (feel free to include sketches or reference images), an artist resume or CV, and example images of previous artworks that are similar in style, medium, and scale. Eligibility: Any artist living and working in Colorado and neighboring states is welcome to apply, with preference given to Colorado artists. Artists must have demonstrated success completing artworks of similar scale, demonstrate the ability to complete the project in the required timeframe, and have knowledge of their materials and maintenance requirements. Town of Windsor Culture Division Staff will review applications and notify artists of their decision by December 1st. Design draft must be completed by December 15th for presentation to Town Staff and the Windsor Arts Commission. Mural painting can begin January 5th and must be completed by March 31st.
