Wills Creek Exhibition of Fine Art

The Allegany Arts Council announces a Call for Entry for The Wills Creek Exhibition of Fine Art, to be held at the Saville and Schwab Galleries in downtown Cumberland, Maryland. This is a national, juried exhibition celebrating its 20th year, featuring contemporary art in painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, fiber art and more. The juror is Jack Rasmussen, Director and Curator of the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center, Washington, DC and Chair of the Maryland State Arts Council.

Artists of all mediums and genres are encouraged to apply. Work must be completed in the last three years and not previously shown in the Saville Gallery. Work must not exceed 48" in any direction including the frame. The entry fee is $30.00 for the first two entries, with additional entries available for $15.00 each. Artists may submit up to six entries total. Entries are accepted through www.callforentry.org. Work samples should include 2-6 images and up to 1 video (2-7 total samples minimum).

This juried competition offers $4,000 in cash prizes: Best of Show $1,500, First Place $1,000, Second Place $750, Third Place $500, and Honorable Mention $250. The exhibition runs September 21-October 5, 2019. A public opening will be held on Saturday, September 21, from 6-8 pm, with awards presented by the juror at 7 pm. A gallery talk with juror Jack Rasmussen is scheduled for September 21, 5:15-6 pm. Accepted artists are responsible for shipping their artwork.
