About This Call
The Wills Creek Exhibition is a national, juried exhibition of contemporary art presented by the Allegany Arts Council and held in the Saville Gallery in Downtown Cumberland's Arts & Entertainment District. Now in its 16th year, the exhibition is open to all visual artists over the age of 18.
The 2015 theme is "One Cubed." All artwork, including frames or supports, must fit inside a 1 foot by 1 foot by 1 foot area. Two-dimensional work must be suitably framed and wired for hanging. Three-dimensional work must not exceed 1 foot in height, width, or depth. Entries must be original works completed within the last three years and not previously exhibited in the Saville Gallery. All artwork should be listed for sale, and no previously sold work may be borrowed for entry.
The entry fee is $30 for up to two entries, with additional entries at $10 each, up to a total of six entries. Applicants must provide a brief artist's statement. Jurors are Amanda Jirón Murphy, Director of the Hamiltonian Gallery in Washington, DC, and Jessica Beck, Assistant Curator at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. Accepted artists are responsible for shipping their artwork and insurance during transport. Shipped works must arrive between August 29–September 6, 2015. The Allegany Arts Council will insure accepted work for 60% of its sale price while on premises and will retain a 40% commission on all sales. Over $3,000 in awards will be presented at the opening reception on Saturday, September 12, from 6 to 8 pm. The exhibition runs September 12–October 10, 2015. Notification of acceptance will be emailed via CaFÉ on August 5. For questions, contact Heidi Custer at 301.777.2787 or [email protected].
