About This Call
Logan City is seeking submissions from artists and artist teams to create a mural on the central concessions building at the Willow Park Sports Complex. The mural will cover all four walls of the first story of the building, with an estimated total area of 1,092 square feet.
The Willow Park Sports Complex is the heart of recreational softball in Logan and includes four softball fields connected to nearby playgrounds, pavilions, open space, a fishing pond, a zoo, fairgrounds, an aquatic center, and a skate park. The central concessions building was built in 1981 and houses the score box on the second floor, and concessions and bathrooms on the first floor. Logan City desires to commission a mural that highlights the strong recreational history of the community and the uses and open spaces at the sports complex and greater Willow Park area.
The total contract budget is $25,000, which includes all fees for consulting, design, transportation, site preparation and priming, materials, execution and installation of the mural, and anti-graffiti coating. The selection committee will review applications and select up to three semi-finalists, each awarded an honorarium of $500 to help defray proposal development costs. Semi-finalists will be invited to submit a design proposal. Artists will be selected based on artistic excellence, demonstration of skill and quality craftsmanship, and the strength and originality of concept. Eligibility is open to all artists, with preference given to Utah artists or regional artists residing within 150 miles of Logan. Artist team members must be at least 18 years of age and legally residing and authorized to work in the United States. Mural installation may begin after April 1, 2026.
