About This Call
The Colorado Photographic Arts Center invites photographers to submit work that addresses the question "who are you?". Identity is forged by powerful internal and external forces that may be summed by the dichotomy "nature vs. nurture." The center invites you to submit work that reflects your understanding and/or interrogation of identity, how it is constructed or deconstructed, and what bearing identity has in ongoing cultural dialogues.
Entry is open to regional, national, and international artists, members and non-members of CPAC. All lens-based media are eligible, including but not limited to images made by film or video camera, scanner, screen-capture, digital camera, and any means of mobile photography. Applicants must submit a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 images, with up to 3 videos allowed (13 total samples maximum). Exhibition print sizes must be specified but there is no size limit. CPAC understands that work may be presented in a non-traditional way that is integral to the art; contact the center in advance if your work fits into these criteria.
Entry fees are $30 for members and $35 for non-members for up to 3 images; $4 per additional image for members and $5 for non-members. Applicant submission deadline is Sunday, September 22, 2019 (midnight, MDT). Notice of acceptance will be sent October 18, 2019. Work must be received by the gallery by Friday, November 22, 2019. The exhibition runs November 29, 2019 – January 4, 2020, with an opening reception on Friday, December 6, 2019, 6-9pm. The exhibition juror is Roula Seikaly, an independent writer and curator based in Berkeley, CA, and Senior Editor at Humble Arts Foundation. For questions about guidelines, call 303-837-1341 or email [email protected].
