About This Call
White & Texture [Monochrome Unity] invites artists to explore the subtleties and complexities of using white as the driving color and how texture informs the execution and narrative of artwork. Artists are encouraged to find emotion without using color, exploring how the limitation of a monochrome palette can lead to innovation and unexpected expression. The exhibition seeks work that demonstrates uniformity, tranquility, universality, simplicity, purity, or abstraction, creating tension between what is missing—color, tradition, and form—and what is gained through new solutions and different ways of expression.
The exhibition runs September 10–October 5, 2024. This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. Work must have been produced within the last five years. All styles and aesthetics are considered, though content should be appropriate for all viewers. Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible.
Entry fee is $25 for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry, with a maximum of 20 entries per artist. Payment is non-refundable and does not guarantee acceptance. Submissions must include 1–20 JPEG images at 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, with a maximum file size of 5 MB. JPEGs are due by August 16, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notification of acceptance will be sent by August 20, 2024. Local drop-off is September 9, 2024, 8am–noon; shipped work must arrive by September 7, 2024. The opening reception is September 13, 2024, 5–7pm. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery and must provide pre-paid return labels. The Cultural Center charges a 30% commission on sales for members and 40% for non-members. For questions, contact [email protected].
