WHISPER!

Verum Ultimum Art Gallery invites artists to explore the theme "Whisper!" for an inaugural exhibition at the gallery's new Southeast Portland location opening summer 2024. The theme explores the concept of when "the murmur from art echoes beyond the walls & settles somewhere secret." "Whisper" with an exclamation may signal contradictions or dualities. The term carries symbolism pertinent to this momentous occasion, but also carries mystery to be filled in by artists' interpretations. Verum is open to all perceptions of this theme. Delicate expressions are welcome, as are bold interpretations, and the term may be framed in many ways, not necessarily meant to be literal. All mediums and modes of expression are welcome.

The competition is open to all 2D and 3D artists, national and international, working in painting, drawing, photography, graphics, digital, and sculpture. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. For wall-mounted works, maximum dimensions are 55" tall by 48" wide (unless approved by gallery owner). Submit 1-4 digital JPG images. Entry fee is $25.00 per artwork entered, plus a $5.00 media fee. Submission deadline is May 22, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified of acceptance by May 30, 2024 via email. Accepted artwork must be received by June 12, 2024, or hand-delivered on June 10, 2024 (email [email protected] first). The opening reception will be in late June, with the exhibition running through the remainder of June and the entire month of July.

Selected artists will be featured in a group exhibition at Verum Ultimum Art Gallery in Portland, Oregon, with an opening reception. The exhibition will be posted on the gallery website and artists will be featured in social media posts and an online blog interview. All works in the show must be for sale; the gallery takes a 40 percent commission on sales. Sale price is determined by the artist. Artists retain all copyrights to their work.
