Whex Parking Garage Mural - Request for Qualifications

ArtWorks and Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC) are seeking artists nationwide to design a large-scale mural for the exterior facade of a parking garage at 212 W. 4th Street in downtown Cincinnati. This opportunity is part of a larger renovation project at the Cincinnati Convention Center and responds to the theme "Convergence: Pieces Creating a Whole," which celebrates the dynamic process of uniting diverse elements to form a cohesive and impactful whole.

The selection process begins with this Request for Qualifications, from which up to three semi-finalist artists will be selected to create design proposals. Semi-finalists will receive a $500 design fee for submitting an original concept proposal. One finalist will be selected to create the final mural design and will receive a $5,000 design fee. The final design will be translated into the mural by either the designing artist or a professional artistic team employed by ArtWorks, to be determined at a later date.

Applicants must submit 3-5 relevant images of completed artworks from the last ten years, along with a résumé, artist bio (250 words), headshot, and link to website or digital portfolio. The mural should be energetic, vibrant, colorful, engaging, thoughtful, responsive, unique, eye-catching, fresh, and contemporary, enhancing the experience of those visiting Cincinnati and reflecting the investments being made to the downtown landscape.
