About This Call
Arts Benicia, a non-profit art center in Benicia, CA, invites artists to submit artwork for Where the Spirit Meets the Bone: Grief and Healing, a juried exhibition that seeks to showcase artists' representations of the concepts and process of grief, loss, and healing. The exhibition runs October 25 – December 21, 2025, and is juried by Diane Williams, an American artist whose paintings emphasize tranquility, nature, and the human spirit.
All 2D and 3D media are accepted, including video files. 2D work may not exceed 36" in width or 72" in height, including the frame. 3D work may not exceed a 36" x 36" footprint with a 35-pound weight limit for hanging work and 300-pound floor weight limit for 3D work. Artists may submit up to 6 artworks with one application. Entry fee is $45 ($35 for current Arts Benicia members) for the first artwork, plus $5 for each additional entry. Images must be submitted in high quality (minimum 1 MB, maximum 5 MB per file). A brief optional concept statement may be submitted during the application process.
Deadline for entries is August 1, 2025 at 10:59 PM PDT. Jurying occurs August 4-16, 2025, with artist notification by August 20, 2025. Hand delivery of artwork is October 10-11, 2025, 1-4 PM, or shipped artwork must arrive by October 10, 2025. The opening public reception is Saturday, October 25, 2025, 4-6 PM. In-person pick-up of artwork is December 22, 2025, 1-4 PM. Artists receive 60% of sales proceeds, with Arts Benicia receiving 40% and bearing all sales transaction fees.
