About This Call

The Wheaton Biennial invites artists whose work reflects a spirit of inquiry and critical reflection on the boundaries of artistic medium. The 2015 Biennial focuses on new directions in photography and examines what constitutes a photograph in the age of digital technology. Work by artists in all stages of their careers will be considered. Selections will be made by juror Kristen Gresh, Assistant Curator of Photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The exhibition seeks a diverse range of experimental work that evokes an open-ended reconsideration of the boundaries of photography.

Exhibition dates are February 27 – April 15, 2015, with a reception on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Artists will be notified on January 15, 2015. Entry fee is $35.00. Work samples may include up to 6 images, 6 audio files, and 6 video files, with a minimum of 4 total samples and maximum of 12 total samples.

All works must be original and not previously exhibited at Beard and Weil Galleries. All media will be considered. All work must be received ready for exhibition with appropriate hanging hardware in place. The gallery director reserves the right to reject work that differs from submitted images. Eligibility is open to national artists.
