What is Beautiful: The Aesthetics of Pleasing the Mind

What is Beautiful: The Aesthetics of Pleasing the Mind is an exhibition examining the concept of beauty across cultures and artistic perspectives. Beautiful is defined as pleasing the senses or mind aesthetically. While some may view the term as derogatory when used professionally to mean trite and shallow, beauty in an artistic perspective is more complex. Different cultures reveal similarities when it comes to seeing and describing what is beautiful.

Beauty is physically everywhere and everything, however something being beautiful is not always about physical features—it can be more towards a state of existence. This call invites artists to submit any medium of work that would visually contribute to the exploration of this exhibition's scope.

Entry fee is $10.00 plus a $5.00 media fee. Artists may submit 1-3 total work samples, which can include up to 3 images, 3 audio files, and/or 3 videos. This is a national call open to artists in Missouri. Contact: [email protected]
