What If???

Gallery 114, an artist-owned and artist-run collective located in Portland's Pearl District, invites submissions for "What If???", an exhibition exploring imaginative commitments that did not happen, answers to absurd hypothetical questions, or however "what if" strikes you. Interpretations may be serious or whimsical. All forms of painting and drawing, sculpture, photography, fiber arts, digital arts and more are welcome. Gallery 114 encourages emerging and established artists to apply and seeks quality artistic expression that embraces the theme with creative integrity.

Submissions must include up to three images of original work with title, size, medium, price, and a brief description of how the work reflects the theme. Individual works should not exceed 7 feet in height and 5 feet in width, with prices not exceeding $5,000 per piece. Entry fee is $35 for three submissions. All materials must be submitted digitally through CAFÉ at CallForEntry.org by December 1, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Notification of acceptance will be sent December 5, 2022.

Accepted works must arrive by 5 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 (local artists by 5 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2022). All work must be installation-ready, framed or encased with appropriate hanging hardware and clearly labeled. The exhibition opens January 5, 2023 at 5-8 p.m. on First Thursday and will be open to the public Thursday-Sunday, 12-5 p.m. through January 28, 2023. Work will also be viewable on the gallery website. Gallery 114 will insure works on site for the market value indicated up to $5,000 per piece. A 35% commission will be charged on all sales. All pieces must remain for the duration of the exhibition. Eligibility: any person 18 years or older.
