About This Call

What Comes Next is a members-only exhibition celebrating SCWCA's 50th Anniversary. Members are invited to submit work exploring ideas of change, growth, transition, and possibility as the organization imagines the future of its work and community. Alongside this exhibition, SCWCA will present a companion show honoring past presidents, recognizing the leadership and dedication that have shaped the organization over the past five decades.

Eligibility: This is a members-only exhibition. To join SCWCA, visit www.nationalwca.org and select CAS as the chapter. All self-identified women artists are welcome to enter. Submissions are limited to one original piece per artist as a JPEG (1-5MB). Entries must be original work of the artist's own execution; prints are not accepted. No AI-generated, video, installation, or performance works are accepted. Framed 2D art cannot exceed 14x18 inches vertically or horizontally including frame. All frames must be black with white matting if matting is used. Canvas work does not need to be framed or matted. All 3D work must fit within the 14x18 inch size, with bases no wider than 18 inches. All work must be for sale. Entry fee is $25 (50th Anniversary special discounted rate). Images must be high resolution (1-5MB) JPGs cropped to remove background, taken without glass or Plexiglas.

Key Dates: Submission deadline is Friday, April 17, 2026, 11:59 p.m. PDT. Art delivery is Saturday, May 2, 2026, 12-2 p.m. Opening reception is Saturday, May 9, 12-2 p.m. Exhibition runs May 6-31, 2026. Art pickup is Sunday, May 31, 2026, 12 p.m. Exhibition location: The Makery, 260 S Los Angeles St, Los Angeles, CA 90012. All artwork must be hand-delivered; no shipping. All hanging artwork must have wire and hanging hardware suitable for the piece; no saw-tooth or clips. Plexiglass must be used on framed artwork, not glass. Sales are handled by The Makery: 70% to artists, 30% to The Makery. Artists are advised to insure their artwork. SCWCA and The Makery may use images of artwork for publicity, educational, and archival purposes.
