What Can't Be Spoken

What Can't Be Spoken is an annual juried exhibition open to all artists currently living in California. The juror is Frances McCormack, abstract artist and professor emerita at the San Francisco Art Institute. The exhibition runs January 13 – February 11, 2025, with a reception and awards on Saturday, January 11, 3-5 PM.

Eligibility and Requirements: All media except video, crafts, or installation are accepted. Artwork must not exceed 5 feet (60 inches) in any direction. Entry fee is $15 per artwork, with a maximum of 4 entries. Submit 1-4 JPG images through callforentry.org. The jurying process is blind, conducted from digital images only. Any contact with the juror during the application period automatically disqualifies the artist. Notification of acceptance or exclusion will be emailed in the second week of November.

Awards and Delivery: The juror will select seven artists to receive $100 checks or $100 gift cards from Blick Art Materials. Accepted artwork must be clean, framed, wired, and ready to hang or place on a base, with all materials dry. Each piece must be labeled on the back or bottom with artist name, phone, email, title, medium, dimensions, and price or NFS (not for sale). Work delivery is Sunday, January 7, 5-7 PM or Monday, January 8, 10 AM-2 PM. Unsold work pickup is February 11 (5-7 PM) or February 12 (10 AM-2 PM). Gallery Route One does not provide insurance for artwork in transit or during the exhibition. Gallery Route One's commission is 45% and should be included in the sales price. Work shipped at artist's expense must be in a returnable carton with prepaid return shipping; Styrofoam packing is not accepted.
