About This Call
Western Trappings on The Llano is a juried, international exhibit and sale of original fine art and custom western gear held inside the Llano County Historical Museum. The exhibit promotes western culture and heritage and celebrates artists who have captured the grandeur of the West. All work displayed will be for sale to the public for the duration of the exhibit. A live, public auction of custom western gear and fine art, donated by participating artists, is held during the event.
This juried exhibition is open to all artists. Original fine art and custom western gear in contemporary and traditional styles are welcomed, with particular encouragement for painting and artwork showing western lifestyles or landscapes of the Texas Hill Country. Submissions may include two-dimensional and three-dimensional work, including artistic functional pieces, silver work, jewelry, leatherwork, spurs, and buckles. Two-dimensional work cannot exceed 44 inches in its largest dimension including frame. Three-dimensional work must not exceed 84 inches tall with no more than a 20 square foot footprint and maximum weight of 200 pounds. Artists may submit up to three works of art per application. All work must be original and for sale.
Application fee is $20.00 per entry for up to three pieces. Professional quality color images (digital JPEG preferred, no larger than 3.0 MB) must be submitted with the application. Deadline for applications, images, and fees is June 15, 2020. Acceptance notifications will be sent between July 1 and July 15, 2020. The exhibit runs October 17 - November 7, 2020. Artists whose work is selected must either donate one work of equal quality but lesser retail value to be sold at the live auction, or donate $200. Western Trappings charges a 15% commission on exhibit sales and 30% commission on auction items sold over $200.
