Western Trappings on The Llano 2013

A 77-day juried exhibit and sale of original Western Art and Custom Trappings/Gear held at the Llano County Historical Museum from October 18, 2013 through January 4, 2014. The exhibit promotes Western Culture and Heritage through the exhibition and sale of fine Western Art and original custom trappings and gear. All art displayed will be for sale to the public for the duration of the exhibit. A live auction of Western Art contributed by participating artists will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Chuck Wagon Central, coinciding with the 9th annual Llano River Chuck Wagon Cook-Off and 24th annual Llano Heritage Days Festival.

Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 years and older. All works must be original Western Art or Custom Trappings/Gear (including silver work, jewelry, leather work, and other artistic functional pieces). Both three-dimensional and two-dimensional work are encouraged, including contemporary and traditional styles. Painting and artwork showing Western lifestyles or landscapes of the Texas Hill Country are encouraged. Artists may submit one application for up to 3 works of art, all of which must be for sale. Artists whose work is selected must either donate one item of equal quality but lesser retail value (suggested around $200) to be sold at the live auction, or donate $200 to the Museum.

Application Requirements: Entry fee is $15.00 per application. Submit professional quality color images (up to 3) of each work or similar recent work. Digital JPEG images are preferred (no larger than 3.0 MB, correctly oriented, showing only the image with no frame or mat). Applications and images must be received by August 1, 2013. Online applications are preferred at www.callforentry.org or www.llanomuseum.org, but paper applications are also accepted. Notification of acceptance will be sent by September 1, 2013. The jury will select work based on quality, presentation, Western content, artistic merit, technical skills, composition, and style.
