About This Call
The Western Spirit Juried Art Show & Sale is the premier annual juried art show in the Rocky Mountain region for new and emerging artists who depict the American West. The show runs from March 7 to April 19, 2020, at the CFD Old West Museum in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Entry fee is $20 for the first entry and $20 for each additional entry. Artists may submit 1-6 images. Media categories include Acrylic, Drawing, Mixed-Media, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Print-Making, Sculpture, and Watercolor. Installation Art is not accepted. All work must be original and created within the last 2-3 years. Size limitations apply: 2-D pieces will not exceed 47 inches horizontal or 60 inches vertical (measured with frame); 3-D pieces will not exceed three square feet at the base; suspended sculpture will not exceed 5' x 8'; 2-D miniatures will not exceed 168 square inches; 3-D miniatures will not exceed 18 inches in any direction and 512 cubic inches including the base.
Awards include Best of Show ($1,000), Best of Each Media ($500), People's Choice ($300), and Best Miniature ($100). The museum collects a 35% commission on sales and 50% commission on Quick Draw art sold at silent auction. All accepted artwork must remain on exhibit until the show closes and must arrive show-ready (framed, mounted, and matted). Artists invited to the Cheyenne Frontier Days Invitational Western Art Show and Sale will have their applications removed from Western Spirit contention. Jurors are Jennifer Johnson, Scott Jones, and Carrie Wild. Acceptance notifications will be sent December 6, 2019. The Opening Reception is March 7, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., preceded by the Western Spirit Seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and a Members-Only Preview from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
