Western Spirit Art Show & Sale

The Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum presents the Western Spirit Art Show & Sale, a juried exhibition featuring over 100 select western artists exhibiting premier western art in the historic Carriage Hall. The show runs from March 5 to April 17, 2016. Artists are selected via digital image submission through callforentry.org, with jurors selecting award winners prior to opening.

Entry fees are $10 for members' first entry and $20 for non-members' first entry, with additional entries at $20 each. Artists may submit 1-6 images. All works must be originals created in the past 2-3 years and ready to hang or display upon arrival. Work size limitations apply: 2-D work outside framed dimensions shall not exceed 47 inches horizontal or 60 inches vertical; 3-D work shall not exceed three square feet at the base. Suspended sculpture may not exceed 5' x 8'. Installation art is no longer accepted. All artwork must be for sale; the Museum retains a 30% commission on sales (50% for Quick Draw art).

The exhibition includes several components: a Western Art Seminar on March 5 featuring professional development and networking; a Vandewark Miniature Show with strict size restrictions (outside framed dimensions not exceeding 168 square inches for 2-D; 8 inches height and 168 cubic inches for 3-D); and a Quick Draw opening night event where six artists create finished pieces in 45 minutes to be auctioned. Art Uncork'd, an artist development opportunity, takes place March 6. Awards include Best of Show ($1,000), Best of Each Media ($500), People's Choice ($300), and Best Miniature ($100). Media categories include Acrylic, Drawing, Mixed-Media, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Watercolor. Entry deadline is October 31, 2015.
