About This Call
The 2020 Western Loudoun Art and Studio Tour (WLAST) is the 15th anniversary of the tour. The mission is to promote Loudoun County as a scenic and cultural destination by producing a tour of the county's visual artists, celebrating their work and providing an educational experience for the public. The tour is produced as a joint project of Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville, Virginia and Round Hill Arts Center in Round Hill, Virginia.
Professional and emerging visual artists whose studios in Western Loudoun County meet specified criteria may apply as Studio Artists. Loudoun artists who do not have a Western Loudoun studio suitable for visitors may apply as Guest Artists. Two- and three-dimensional work will be considered, including painting, drawing, fiber, wood, ceramics, photography, sculpture and jewelry. Applicants must submit 10-15 images. All work is submitted to an independent group of jurors immediately following the close of the application period. Applicants are notified of acceptance or non-acceptance by February 17, 2020.
All accepted artists are required to attend an artist information meeting on April 21, 2020 at Franklin Park Art Center to learn new information for the tour, pick up tour materials, and interact with other artists in their geographic clusters. For the 15th anniversary tour, WLAST will be advertised as a three-day tour: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 5, 6, and 7, 2020. Studios must be open Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. Studios may add Friday, June 5, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM as an additional day. Art centers and the Purcellville Train Station will only be open Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.
Application fees are $200 for artists in their own studio with or without a guest, and $250 for guest artists. Fees are paid at the time of application through PayPal or credit card in CaFÉ, or by mailing a check payable to Friends of Franklin Park Arts Center/WLAST, P.O. Box 653, Round Hill, VA 20142. Artists who are not accepted into the tour will be refunded all but $50 of their application fee. WLAST is supported by a 100% volunteer planning committee and funded through grants and donations. Accepted artists are asked to assist where possible in promoting the tour, volunteering for tasks and participating in fund raising efforts.
