About This Call
The 2025 Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (WFWS) 50th Anniversary Exhibition is open to all dues-paid, current members of the following regional societies: Arizona Watercolor Association (AWA), Colorado Watercolor Society (CWS), Idaho Watercolor Society (IWS), New Mexico Watercolor Society (NMWS), San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS), Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild (SAWG), Southwestern Watercolor Society (SWS), Utah Watercolor Society (UWS), Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO), and West Texas Watercolor Society (WTWS). Artists must be members in good standing with all dues paid before entering. The exhibition will be on display at the Museum of Texas from February 1, 2025 to May 4, 2025, with an Awards Presentation and Gala Awards Dinner on April 12, 2025.
Entry deadline is October 14, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time. Artists may submit up to three entries at $35 for the first entry and $10 per entry thereafter. Work must be original and completed within the past two years (on or after October 14, 2022). All work must consist of watermedia on natural or synthetic paper, watercolor board, canvas paper, or 1/8" canvas board. Watermedia includes watercolor, acrylic, water-based mediums, ink, gouache, casein, egg tempera, watercolor pencil, and watercolor crayon. Alcohol inks and water soluble oils are not permitted. Digital media and AI-generated art are not permitted. Photography, prints, reproductions, diptychs, and triptychs are not permitted. Work must not have been shown in any previous WFWS exhibition or any previous National or International exhibition by other societies.
Paintings must be matted with a single white mat with a minimum of 3" on each side. Minimum painting size is 100 square inches; maximum is 24" x 34". Mat outer measurements must be in whole inches and one of the following sizes: 16 x 20, 20 x 24, 22 x 22, 22 x 28, 24 x 30, 24 x 36, 30 x 30, or 30 x 40. Digital images must be JPG files only, less than 5MB, with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Juror notifications will be sent via email on October 24, 2024. There is an additional $50 processing fee for artists accepted into the exhibit. A 25% commission applies to all sales. Insurance for artwork is the responsibility of the artist and their local society.
