About This Call
In honor of John Clymer, who traveled, painted and lived throughout the United States, the Clymer Museum and Gallery presents "The West of the Mississippi Annual Juried Art Show." The museum seeks works demonstrating the artistic interpretation of the pioneering spirit inspired by the idea of frontier exploration. The frontier spirit is exemplified by the progression of moving towards the unknown, exploration through experience and triumph over circumstance.
Eligibility: Applicants must be residing in the states west of the Mississippi River and Canadian provinces as listed: AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, HI, ID, IA, KS, LA, MN, MO, MT, NE, NV, NM, ND, OK, OR, SD, TX, UT, WA, WY. Canada: MB, NU, SK, AB, BC, NT, YT. Work must be the original work of the artist. Please no gallery or dealer submissions. Work that is damaged, not ready to hang or appears largely inconsistent from submission images are subject to rejection. Fees will not be refunded. The exhibit sponsors are the final authority on eligibility. Entry fee is $40, with a $10 nonrefundable fee for each additional image. Applications are limited to five total images. Submit 3-5 digital slides clearly labeled with the media, size, and whether art is for sale (with pricing) or not for sale (with declared value).
Awards: Best in Show will receive a solo exhibition at the Clymer Museum and Gallery to be scheduled for the McGiffin and Kreishheimer Galleries in 2016 in addition to a cash award of $1,000. Additional Awards: First Place $250 in each of the following categories: Photography, Drawing, Sculpture, Watercolor, Oils and Mixed Media. Juried applicants will be notified of results by February 12, 2015. Selected works will be displayed at the Clymer Museum and Gallery from March 6, 2015 through April 25, 2015. Work must remain in the show for the duration of the exhibition. 3D work should not exceed seventy pounds and be ready for display. 2D work should not exceed 72 inches in any dimension and must be presented ready to hang with all hardware for hanging. The Clymer Museum and Gallery will retain a 35% commission for all sales taking place during the exhibition and sales directly resulting from display. Artists are responsible for delivery of artwork by March 2, 2015, and for all shipping costs and insurance during transit.
