West Michigan Area Show 2023

Since the 1960s, this annual juried exhibition has showcased exceptional work in all media, drawing hundreds of entries from a 14-county region. Each year, an experienced juror chooses work from more than 300 submitted entries. The 2023 juror is Alison Wong, Director and Curator of Wasserman Projects. The exhibition will be open from Saturday, May 27 through Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Eligibility is limited to artists 18 years or older residing in the following Michigan counties: Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Eaton, Ionia, Kalamazoo, Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa, St. Joseph, and Van Buren. Only original work completed within the last 2 years will be accepted. Digital media, 2-D, and 3-D works in any medium are eligible, with a maximum size of six feet on any side. Wall-hung works must be framed with proper hanging devices. A maximum of 3 works may be submitted at $14 for the first entry and $8 for each additional entry.

Over $5,000 in awards will be awarded, including a $1,000 Helen Sheridan Memorial Grand Prize, $500 for Second Place, and $400 for Third Place. Additional awards include the $1,000 Portage Community Art Award, $750 Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo's People's Choice Award, and specialized awards for ceramics, glass, printmaking, quilts, mixed media, and other media. Artist notification is April 19, with artist drop-off May 11-13 and 15.
