West Michigan Area Show 2022

The West Michigan Area Show 2022 is open to all artists 18 years or older residing in the following Michigan counties: Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Eaton, Ionia, Kalamazoo, Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa, St. Joseph, and Van Buren. Artists may submit up to 3 original works completed within the last 2 years. Digital media, 2-D, and 3-D works in any medium are accepted, provided they do not exceed six feet (72") on any side. Only one image per work may be submitted. Entry fees are $14 for the first work and $8 for each additional work (up to 3 total entries). All wall-hung works must be framed with proper hanging devices (wires and/or "D"-rings) attached; clip frames are not permitted.

Accepted works must be received by 4 p.m. on May 9, 2022. Works may be hand-delivered during May 5-7 and May 9, or shipped via UPS or FedEx with return postage and mailing labels. The exhibition opens Saturday, May 21. Artists will be notified of acceptance on Wednesday, April 20. All work is submitted at the owner's risk; the KIA will not insure works during transit or while on its premises.

The show offers numerous awards totaling over $7,000, including the $1,000 Helen Sheridan Memorial Grand Prize, $500 Second Place, and $400 Third Place. Category-specific awards are available for quilts, mixed media, printmaking, book arts, calligraphy, glass, jewelry, ceramics, and other media. The Portage Community Art Award ($1,000) requires the winning artist to be a Portage resident and able to install 8-10 additional works in Portage City Hall from September 16 to October 28, 2022, with the winning work displayed in City Hall for one year following the exhibition.
