About This Call
The We're Doing It ALL Wrong® - 4th Annual Art Exhibition is a juried exhibition running from August 2 through September 28, 2024, organized by the Edward A. Dixon Gallery in Dayton, Ohio. The exhibition challenges artists and viewers to recognize, react, and learn about the many ways humanity continually fails itself. Artists are encouraged to submit work that captures or comments on traditions, systems, practices, institutions, or anything they see that needs to be changed for the betterment of humanity or our planet. Previous exhibitions have addressed topics including drug prices, environmental and climate change, technology dependence, social injustice, Native American women disappearances, homelessness, gaslighting, and avocado farming impacts. The exhibition will be presented both in-person at the gallery and online, with potential additional locations after the initial two-month run.
Eligible artists must be 18 years or older and located in the United States. Each artist may submit one artwork for a $30 entry fee, with up to two additional pieces for $15 each. Artwork must be wall art (paintings, drawings, fiber art, photography, etc.) not exceeding 50 inches on its longest side, framed if appropriate, and wired and ready to hang. Submissions must include 1-3 images adhering to CAFÉ submission requirements. Judging occurs June 5-19, 2024, with artist notifications by June 21st. Award categories include Best in Show, 2nd Place, and Signature Artwork. Judges include Ed Dixon (gallery owner and curator), photographer Stacy Kranitz, and Professor Judith L. Huacuja, PhD.
Accepted artwork may be hand-delivered July 21-23 from 3-6 pm or shipped via UPS, FedEx, DHL, or USPS to arrive between July 22-26, 2024. Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance costs to the gallery. The gallery covers return shipping and insurance for artwork in packaging under 48 inches. Hand-delivered artwork may be picked up beginning September 29 from 3-6 pm. Artists agree to allow submitted artwork to be available for sale with a 40% commission to the gallery.
