Wearable Expressions 7th International Juried Exhibition

Palos Verdes Art Center presents Wearable Expressions 7th International Juried Exhibition, January 21–April 16, 2017, with Off the Wall and On the Runway on April 22, 2017. This competition celebrates wearable art designed for the human body in all media, from separates and full costumes to jewelry and accessories. The exhibition is dedicated to promoting the fine art aspect of wearable art media in an international forum, encouraging the creation of innovative art to wear, and sharing vision and exploration of techniques and materials.

The competition is open to applicants 18 years or older. Categories are fiber, jewelry, and accessories. Each artist can submit up to three items for consideration, with one entry consisting of several pieces if they are part of a complete ensemble or concept. Individual or collaborative entries are encouraged. Submissions must include an Artist's Statement of 50 words or less and a detailed description of materials and techniques used for the catalogue. Each entry must be original work completed within the last two years. Entry fee is $40 for up to three entries (non-refundable).

Awards include First Place ($3,000), Second Place ($1,200), and Third Place ($500) in each category, plus Unique Use of Materials ($700 each category), Popular Choice Award ($1,500), The Circle Award ($800), Associates Award ($800), and Art Patrons Award ($800). Jurors include Joris Debo (Belgium), Jo Ann C. Stabb (USA), Beatrijs Sterk (Germany), Robert K. Liu (USA), Charles Lewton-Brain (Canada), and Anneta Valious (France & Russia). Notifications will be sent by November 15, 2016. Shipped work must arrive by December 15, 2016; hand-delivered work accepted December 20 by appointment.
