About This Call

WEAD Ecological Maintenance Art is a group exhibition of work by members of the Women Environmental Artists Directory whose work addresses taking care of the planet and sustaining nature as a form of social justice. The exhibition runs June 15 – September 28, 2012 at the Marin Community Foundation offices in Novato, California, with an opening reception on June 28. Approximately 150-170 pieces will be selected with no more than three works per artist. Artists outside the Bay Area may submit 2D work only; Bay Area artists may also submit 3D work if they can deliver it in person.

Eligibility is open to all US-based artists 18 years and older who are current members of WEAD or become members by the May 2 deadline. Accepted media includes painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and assemblage. Work size cannot exceed 7ft h X 2.5 ft w (elevator) or 8ft h X 6ft w (lobby doorway). Submit 1-5 images of your work. Notification of accepted works will be sent May 9. Receivership of accepted works is June 7-10. Works must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

Awards will be given for 1st place ($500), 2nd place ($300), and 3rd place ($100). Artists receive 85% of all art sales, with WEAD retaining 15%. Return shipping will be paid up to $20 per package (within the USA) for unsold works. Artwork will be covered by inland marine insurance for its actual cash value while displayed at MCF. The Foundation reserves the right to reject any artwork and to photograph artwork for publicity purposes.
