About This Call
UMass Dartmouth University Art Gallery seeks original work by professional artists for this online exhibition. Artists may submit images (any media, photography, documentation of 3D work, etc.) and video (up to 10 minutes). Submissions may include up to 3 images, up to 3 videos, with a minimum of 1 total sample and maximum of 6 total samples.
The exhibition invites artistic commentary on the COVID-19 pandemic, its everyday realities, political and medical urgency, and its impact on society. The concept asks: What does this new "now" look like and feel like? Artists are encouraged to explore what we are losing, how we are changing, and what will be the visual markers of this crisis—whether depicting face masks, empty streets, social inequality, or emerging awareness of interconnectedness and solidarity.
Exhibition dates: June 1 – August 31, 2020. Opening reception: Thursday, June 11, 2020, 6-8 pm (Virtual AHA! Night in New Bedford, MA). Notification of acceptance: May 15, 2020. Entry fee: $15.00. Media fee: $5.00. Eligibility: National. The exhibition is juried by Nato Thompson, Artistic Director of Philadelphia Contemporary.
