About This Call
This juried exhibition is open to undergraduate students enrolled at Western Carolina University. Artwork must have been created during the 2013-2014 school year. The entry fee is $10.00. Submissions may include up to 5 images, 2 videos, or a combination totaling 7 work samples maximum.
The exhibition runs March 31 - May 9, 2014. Awards include cash prizes in each media category (painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking & book arts, new media, and photography), as well as a Chancellor's Award, College of Fine & Performing Arts Dean's Purchase Award, and an overall Best in Show. Jurors are Diana Stoll, an arts writer and editor based in Asheville, and Jeff Kinzel, a New York-born artist working with experimental media.
Artwork must arrive ready to display. All 2-D or wall-mounted works must be equipped with D-Rings, though alternative display methods may be considered with advance permission from the FAM director. 3-D work must be able to stand alone or fit the museum's standard pedestals. Graphic design and 2-D prints must be submitted framed and ready for display. Motion graphics and video must be saved as QuickTime files. Website submissions must include all files needed to view the work offline. Site-specific work must include a reference such as a photograph, maquette, or other symbol. Artwork must not contain highly flammable or dense organic matter. A 20% donation is requested on all sales during the exhibition. The FAM carries insurance on artwork while on display and in transit. For questions about display requirements or special installation needs, contact FAM director David Brown at [email protected].
