Wax Works

Wax Works is an exhibition seeking artists who work in wax media. Acceptable work includes encaustic, cold wax, wax sculptures, waxed paper, waxed thread, and mixed media containing an encaustic or wax element. Both 2D and 3D works are accepted.

Entry deadline is May 30, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $15.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for additional entries. Applicants must submit 1-10 images. Jury results will be announced June 2. Accepted artists must deliver work by June 12, 2021. Work can be dropped off Friday, June 19th from 1-5 p.m. or Saturday, June 12th from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Artists shipping work must ensure it arrives by June 12th and are responsible for return shipping costs. A paid return shipping label with tracking number must be included in the shipping box; work without a label will not be hung. Shipping insurance is recommended and packing peanuts should not be used.

The exhibition runs June 18-July 10, 2021 at the Kansas City Stockyards Gallery, located in the historic Livestock Exchange Building. A public reception is scheduled for June 18 from 5-9 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Reception will follow public health guidelines with mask requirements and limited capacity. Artwork must be original and ready to hang with wire apparatus on the back; shelves and pedestals are available for 3D work. Unsold work must be picked up Saturday, July 10th or Monday, July 11th between 11 a.m.-3 p.m., or the gallery will ship it back on those dates.
