Wax Stories II

Niza Knoll Gallery in Denver, Colorado invites artists who incorporate encaustic in their art making to submit work for Wax Stories II, a juried exhibition. This is the second biennial exhibition of Wax Stories, expanded to a national call following the success of the first regional exhibit in 2015. Submissions will be juried by a blind juried method by Patricia Aaron, an award-winning contemporary abstract painter.

The exhibition will open November 3, 2017 and run through January 6, 2018 in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe. Awards will be given to Best of Show, 2nd and 3rd place winners, who will be honored with a four-week group exhibition titled "Best Stories" at Niza Knoll Gallery in Denver in 2018. Entry fee is $35.00 for 1 to 3 entries. Artists must submit 1 to 3 images. All work must have been completed in the past three years and must arrive exhibition ready.

Accepted artwork may be 2-D or 3-D with specific size restrictions: 2-D work must not exceed 40" wide or weigh more than 25 lbs; dimensional pedestal art must not exceed 12"w x 12"d x 24"h and weigh less than 25 lbs; installation art must not exceed 40"w x 40"d x 120"h and weigh less than 25 lbs. All work must be available for sale during the exhibition. Niza Knoll Gallery retains a 40% commission on all art sales. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs, including return shipping. Niza Knoll Gallery provides liability insurance for artworks while on premises but is not responsible for damage or loss during transport. Accepted artists must provide a one-paragraph "wax story" statement for marketing purposes. Art previously shown in the gallery will not be accepted. Important dates: Call deadline 9/30, jurying complete 10/6, acceptance letters by 10/9, shipped art received no later than 10/29, hand delivery 10/31 between 12-2:00pm, artists reception 11/17 5-8pm.
