Wax Stories

Niza Knoll Gallery in Denver, Colorado invites regional artists who incorporate encaustic in their art making to submit work for a juried exhibition titled Wax Stories. The exhibition runs October 2 - November 13, 2015. Eligibility is regional, including Colorado and bordering states: Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Wyoming. Submissions will be juried by blind juried method, with first, second, and third place recognition awards given.

Artwork may be 2-D or 3-D. Two-dimensional art must not exceed 40" wide and weigh less than 25 pounds. Three-dimensional pedestal art must not exceed 12"w x 12"d x 24"h and weigh less than 25 pounds. Installation art must not exceed 40"w x 40"d x 144"h and weigh less than 30 pounds. All artwork must have been completed in the past three years and arrive exhibition ready with all hanging hardware and assembly instructions. No saw tooth hangers or white frames are accepted. Art previously shown in the gallery will not be accepted. For accepted work, artists must provide a one-paragraph "wax story" statement for the wall label.

Entry fee is $35.00 for 1 to 3 entries, with an additional $10.00 per entry for additional pieces. Submit 3 to 12 images. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs, including return shipping with pre-paid labels. Niza Knoll Gallery provides insurance for artworks while on premises for sale value. All work must be available for sale during the exhibition; Niza Knoll retains a 40% commission on sales. Prices may not be changed after submission. Payment for sold artwork will be issued within 30 days after the exhibition closes. The exhibition will be juried by Collin Parson, Artist, Exhibition Manager and Chief Curator for the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities.
