About This Call
Washington Sculptors Group invites submissions for "Porous Borders," an exhibition exploring interconnections despite borders and boundaries. The exhibition runs September 10 – December 5, 2010 at The Historical Society of Washington, 801 K Street NW, Washington D.C. 20001. The exhibition is juried by Jayme McLellan, Director/Founder of Civilian Art Projects.
The exhibition is open to members of the Washington Sculptors Group. Artists who are not already members may join WSG by paying annual dues of $45 ($15 for full-time students). WSG members must have paid their 2010 dues to be eligible. Work to be considered includes outdoor and indoor three-dimensional freestanding sculpture, wall hung, lightweight ceiling hung sculpture, installations, and new media. No pedestals or audio/visual equipment will be provided. Work must be able to pass through doors 41" w x 78" h. All work accepted and exhibited must remain on display for the full duration of the show. Artists are solely responsible for delivery and installation of their accepted work on the installation date (Monday, September 6, 2010, 10 am to 2 pm) and de-installation on the pick-up date (Monday, December 6, 2010, 10 am - 2 pm). Staff will be available onsite to assist with installations.
Entry deadline is Monday, August 9, 2010. Artists must submit through CaFÉ web services (www.callforentry.org). Submissions require 1-4 digital images per artist. Video and new media artists may also submit DVDs (maximum 2, 10 minutes duration each, formatted for Macintosh). Entry fee is $45 for non-members; current 2010 WSG members receive a coupon code. Artists will be notified Monday, August 16, 2010. The exhibition opens Friday, September 10, 2010 at noon, with an artists' reception Wednesday, September 22, 2010, 6-8 pm. WSG will insure work while on site but not during transportation. No commission will be taken on sales.
