Warmth in Winter

This online pastel painting competition is open to artists worldwide. The competition accepts pastel paintings where 80% of the exposed surface must be dry pastel. Oil pastels and mixed media are not eligible. Original artwork only is accepted; copies, altered photos with pastels added, or artwork created on top of photos are not eligible. Work done in a workshop or under guidance from an instructor is not eligible. All subjects and styles are eligible except nudes. If a photo reference is used, it must be taken by the artist, or written permission from the photographer must be provided if requested.

Awards include: Best of Show — $500; First Place — $300; Second Place — $200; Third Place — $100; and Award(s) of Merit — To Be Decided. Work may be listed for sale or as NFS (Not For Sale). There is no artwork size limitation.

Submissions must be high-quality JPEG files with images at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge and no larger than 30 MB. Images should show only the artwork itself with no visible matting, frames, or background. Images must be oriented correctly and use the sRGB color profile. Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the entry deadline of January 16, 2023. After submission and payment, you may log back in to review, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images until the deadline. Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline, and incomplete entries will be disqualified.
