About This Call
Gallerium invites artists to apply to War and Peace - 2024, a dual exhibition and publication addressing the devastation of war, the longing for peace, and the beauty and tranquility of peace. The theme opens possibilities for artistic interpretations ranging from inner conflicts to outside world conflicts, resolutions, and the human spirit. Artists are encouraged to explore the dichotomy between chaos and tranquility, violence and harmony, and the enduring pursuit of peace. Focus areas include visualizing the serenity of peace, the social, personal and emotional results of destructive wars and conflicts, standing together as a voice for victims of war and genocide, and honoring their memories to build a better future.
Artists may interpret the theme through items and objects from wars (uniforms, medals, weapons, personal items), enemies, heroes, philosophers, politicians and leaders, literature, music, movies and games, trauma, violence, refugees and loss of habitat, UN and peace organizations, and lost natural and wildlife. All personal interpretations, societal reflections, historical narratives, or visionary perspectives in abstract and representational forms in any 2D or 3D medium are welcomed. This opportunity is open to all visual artists worldwide working in any art medium.
Submission is free of charge. Selected artworks will be showcased in an international online group exhibition from May 18 to July 18, 2024, and published in The Book of Arts: War and Peace. The online version of the book is free; high-quality print versions can be ordered via print-on-demand services. Selected artworks will be promoted for sales via the online exhibition link. All selected artworks and artists will be published in an exhibition catalogue available in online and print versions. Additional benefits include lifelong exhibition links, digital exhibition poster, social media promotional badges, artwork ratings and comments from visitors, promotion program, analytics reports, possible magazine publication, free artist profile page on Biafarin platform, and digital certificate. Selected artists pay a fixed selection fee of USD 40. Each artist can submit up to 6 artworks; maximum 2 artworks are accepted. A money-back guarantee is available for selection fee payments until the exhibition's official opening day. Jury process uses two phases: Yes/No selection followed by scoring model where jury members score artworks 1-5, with highest-scoring artworks in the "Yes" group selected.
