War

Hudson Valley MOCA invites artists to submit work for its third Juried exhibition exploring the theme of War. The exhibition seeks to address how artists portray the varied forms and tensions of war—external and internal, personal and political, real and imagined. Work may be submitted in any medium including painting, installation, photography, and video.

Eligibility: Artists from across the United States, 18 years or older. Original works only, executed during the past three years that have never been exhibited at Hudson Valley MOCA. Entry fee is $45.00. Submit up to 5 images (minimum 1, maximum 5) through CaFE only. Submission deadline: November 27, 2023. Artists will be notified December 18, 2023. Exhibition dates: January 29 - April 4, 2024. Opening reception: January 27, 2024.

Artwork Requirements: Two-dimensional work must be framed and ready for installation with hanging hardware already installed; maximum 84 inches in any dimension and 75 pounds. Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 84 inches in any dimension and 100 pounds; should be accompanied by a pedestal or be ready for freestanding display. Work requiring assembly must include detailed installation instructions with reference photos. Hudson Valley MOCA prohibits glitter, wet paint, sharp objects, open flames, balloons, spray, dangerous chemicals, weapons, pressurized containers, plants, animals, hazardous materials, or decaying materials. Selected works must be delivered ready to hang/display. Shipped artwork deadline: January 5-7, 2024. Hand deliveries accepted January 6, 7, and 11, 2024, or by appointment. Recognition: Viewer's Choice awards (top three works) receive Artists Membership. Hudson Valley MOCA takes 50% commission on sales; insurance provided onsite during installation, exhibition, and de-installation.
