WAOWing the Lone Star State

WAOWing the Lone Star State is a juried exhibition open to all WAOW members working in all mediums, excluding photography, digital art, and fiber art. The exhibition runs May 11 – June 4, 2011, at Rockport Center for the Arts in Rockport, Texas.

Eligibility and Requirements: Original work completed within the past two years (2009–2011) that has not been exhibited in previous WAOW juried shows is eligible. Three-dimensional works must be no more than three years old (2008–2011) and exhibited no more than twice in any WAOW juried exhibition, with edition size limited to 45. Painting image dimensions may not exceed 40" by 30" (unframed). Work created with instructor guidance is not eligible. All artwork must be available for sale and professionally framed and ready to hang. Two copies of the artist's biography must be included with return shipping.

Submissions and Awards: Submit 3–5 digital images online at www.CallForEntry.org by March 4, 2011 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Entry fee is $50 for 3 submissions, $55 for 4 submissions, or $60 for 5 submissions. A maximum of three pieces will be selected for inclusion. Awards include Best of Show ($1,000), 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($250), 3rd Place ($100), three Jury Awards ($100 each), and the Allen Award ($100) for the best plein air painting. Judge of awards is Ann Templeton, an oil/pastel-conceptual impressionist and accomplished teacher and juror.

Delivery and Sales: Accepted artists are responsible for shipping and insurance both ways. Shipped work must arrive by May 6, 2011; hand-delivered work by May 8, 2011. Sales split: 2D work 35% Rockport/65% Artist; 3D work 30% Rockport/70% Artist. Rockport Center for the Arts will pay artists within 30 days of sale. Unsold hand-delivered work may be picked up June 5, 1–4 p.m.; unsold shipped work will be returned by June 17. Contact Debbie Hughbanks at [email protected] for questions.
