About This Call
The Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston announces the Walter Feldman Fellowship for Emerging Artists, a new program supporting the careers of young artists through solo exhibition opportunities, curatorial support, and expert counsel in marketing and business skills.
Eligibility: Applicants must be New England-based artists working in non-photographic two-dimensional media, under 40 years old as of the submission deadline, and must not have had a previous solo show at a commercial gallery or museum. Artists who have had solo shows in non-profit or smaller alternative spaces are invited to submit. Five finalists will be selected for a group show opening in October 2015. From this group show, two winners will be chosen to receive solo exhibitions in spring 2016.
Finalists exhibit two to four works in the group show, participate in a one-on-one portfolio review session with Walter Feldman and the juror, and receive free admission to the A&BC's professional development workshops. The two winners receive curatorial guidance, a solo show of 10-20 works at the Walter Feldman Gallery in Boston's Fort Point neighborhood, a professional exhibition catalog, individualized career coaching with industry professionals, and legal support through the A&BC's Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts program. Artists retain 100% of proceeds from any sales of their work. Entry fee is $20. Submit 4 images of works, CV and/or artist statement. Juror: Liz Munsell, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art & MFA Programs, Museum of Fine Art, Boston.
