About This Call

Voices of the Midwest is a regional exhibition held at the Kavanagh Gallery of Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois, running September 3 - October 10, 2020. Artists are invited to submit original artwork that expresses the unique aspects of life in the Midwest. Both representational and abstract work in any medium will be considered, including 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional pieces. This call is open to artists residing in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Artists may submit up to 3 pieces per entry with a non-refundable entry fee of $35. Requirements include: artist must be at least 18 years old, images must be of actual work to be exhibited, artwork must be original and completed in the last two years, pieces must not have been previously shown at Fine Line, and all pieces must be for sale. An artist statement limited to 1000 characters is required and will be displayed during the show. Artwork size when packed for shipping cannot exceed 48 inches x 32 inches x 6 feet and cannot exceed 50 pounds.

The Kavanagh Gallery Committee will curate the show. Awards of $800 in prizes will be awarded based on creativity, quality of artistry, and originality. Jury notification will be sent on or before July 25, 2020. The gallery charges a 30% sales commission on any artwork sold. Fine Line handles all sales, sales tax, and provides artists with payment after the show ends. Fine Line is responsible for installation, the opening reception, and sales. Attendance at the opening reception is strongly encouraged but not mandatory. Fine Line provides 24/7 security and insurance coverage (valued at 70% of sale price) from receipt of work until the end of the show. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and insurance during transit.
