Vividness

Vividness is a juried exhibition open to all artists over the age of 16 who reside in the United States. The exhibition aims to show quality work that brings positive representation and pays tribute to people of color while challenging negative appropriation of culture. The definition of cultural appropriation is the adoption of specific elements of one culture by another culture. The exhibition seeks to give credit and acknowledge origins while appreciating different cultures and broadening perspectives.

Vividness accepts paintings, printmaking, photography, drawings, prints, and mixed media. No videos or sculpture. All entries must be original pieces completed in the last two years and must be accurately represented in high-resolution (300dpi) jpeg images not exceeding 5MB. Professional presentation is required: 2D artwork must be framed with a secure way to hang, and for canvases, sides and staples must be covered. Entry fee is $25 per artist, invoiced upon receipt of entry regardless of acceptance. Submissions are made through the CaFE website.

Artist notifications will be sent on or before January 30, 2021. Artwork delivery is March 4-6, 2021 during gallery hours. The exhibition runs March 17 - April 2, 2021 at the Indiana University Kokomo Downtown Gallery, located at 102 N. Main Street, Kokomo, IN 46901. Artwork pickup is April 8-10, 2021 during gallery hours. Delivery and pickup are the artist's responsibility; artists may drop off in person or ship work in a sturdy, reusable box with prepaid return shipping. Sales are encouraged with the gallery receiving a 30% commission. Any work not picked up 30 days after the exhibition ends becomes the property of the gallery.
