About This Call
Visual Language is an exhibition at Loading Dock Gallery, located at 122 Western Avenue, Lowell, MA 01851. The exhibition runs from August 8 to October 3, 2018.
Eligibility is open to artists over 18 years of age in the New England region. Entries must be original artworks completed within the last five years. No reproductions. All artworks must be for sale. Video, projection, and performance will not be considered. Limited to three entries per artist. Entry fee is $35 for non-members or $25 for Loading Dock Gallery members (using CaFE coupon). If multiple views of a work are needed, they should be merged into a single photo-collage image.
Accepted 2-D mediums include paint, mixed-media, encaustic, charcoal, pastel, collage, mosaic, ceramic, photography, hanging fiber, all print techniques, digital, and shaped canvas. 2-D work must not exceed 48" x 48" wall footprint including frame, weigh no more than 50 lbs., and be hang ready with appropriate hanging hardware for drywall (no sawtooth hangers). Large framed artwork must use non-breakable glazing. 3-D work can be free-standing, pedestal, or wall hung. Free-standing work must not exceed 150 lbs.; pedestal work can be no larger than 6' 0" in any dimension; wall-mounted work must not exceed 50 lbs. and extend no more than 48" in the longest dimension. All 3-D work must have artist-installed hanging hardware suitable for drywall with no special safety requirements. The Gallery reserves the right to reject works deemed too fragile or unstable for display, that differ from submitted images, or that are not professionally presented.
Accepted artists will be notified by email by September 18, 2018. Delivery is required between September 22-29, 2018 (Saturday noon to 5:30 pm, with final cutoff September 29 at 5:30 pm). All artwork must be hand delivered; shipped work will not be accepted. Pick-up begins October 28 from 4-6 pm, October 29-30 from noon-5 pm, and October 31 from noon-5 pm. All work must remain on display through the entire exhibition. Works not picked up by October 31 are subject to a $5.00 per day storage fee and will not be insured. The Gallery insures objects on loan while at the Gallery but not in transit. There is a $500.00 deductible per item. The Gallery requires 40% commission for non-members; artists receive payment within 15 days after the show closes. The juror is Deborah Santoro, Gallery Coordinator for the University of Massachusetts, Lowell Campus. The award is $500 for "Best in Show."
