Visions of the Flint Hills 2016

Buttonwood Art Space hosts the annual Visions of the Flint Hills Benefit and Sale to benefit research and preservation of the Flint Hills area of Kansas. The 8,600 acre Konza Prairie and surrounding Flint Hills region contain the largest remaining parcels of Tallgrass prairie that once covered 140 million acres in North America. In 2008, the Tallgrass Prairie was named one of the eight wonders of the State of Kansas.

This juried exhibition features art depicting or derived from the Flint Hills area of Kansas. The exhibit runs from October 7 through November 25, 2016, at Buttonwood Art Space, 3013 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64108. Open to paintings, photographs, fiber, video and 3-D works. Categories include: Painting, Photography, 3-D, and Other (which may include flat fiber pieces, drawings, video, and non-traditional work). Net proceeds benefit Friends of the Konza Prairie, which promotes educational research and experiences in the Konza Prairie Biological Station.

Artists may submit up to four pieces for a non-refundable $25.00 entry fee. Work sample requirements: minimum 1 image, maximum 4 images; up to 4 audio files; up to 4 video files; total samples between 1-4. Juror: Jean Cook. Awards: $500 Best of Show; $100 First Place in each category, and other prizes. All artwork will be juried on a piece by piece basis. All works will be split 50% to artist and 50% to Friends of Konza Prairie. Ship all artworks to Buttonwood Art Space by September 16, 2016. All shipped works must include a Return Ship Label. Optional hand delivery available Friday-Saturday, September 23-24, 2016 between 9am-1:00 p.m.
