Visions of Nature: Contemporary Views in Alternative Photographic Techniques

Visions of Nature seeks alternative photographic processes created within the last two years. Acceptable processes include Cyanotype, Gum Bichromate, Van Dyke, Palladium/Platinum, Photopolymer Gravure, Copper Plate Gravure, Salt, Tintype, Silver Gelatin, Chemigrams, Phytograms, Lumens, Chromogenic prints, Hand applied emulsions, Photo-encaustic, Carbon, Gumoil, Instant transfers and lifts, and Hand-manipulated (altered surface) digital prints. Combinations of these processes are welcome. Digital photographic images can be used in combination with other processes, but straight digital prints will not be accepted, with an exception for lumen where the unfixed originals cannot be safely exhibited. 3D and experimental work is encouraged.

Work needs to arrive at the gallery ready to hang but framing is not required. Magnets, clips, and other methods can be used. Artists must include instructions for alternative presentations. Entry fee is $40 for up to 5 images ($15 for students with coupon). The deadline for submitted work is July 7th at midnight Mountain time, with acceptance notification on July 12th and work due at Light Art Space by July 31st. The exhibition opens August 6th with a reception from 5-7 pm and runs through October 2nd, 2021.

Juror Diana Bloomfield, a photographic artist specializing in 19th century photographic printing techniques, will select award winners: First Place $250, Second Place $150, Third Place $75. Sales are encouraged; Light Art Space retains a 40% commission on any artwork sold. All artwork remains in the exhibition through October 2nd, 2021.
