About This Call
Vision: Shadow and Light is a photography exhibition with the theme of shadow and light. The call seeks a range of interpretations of how shadow and light are used in contemporary photography, including dramatic shadows and patterns in black and white images as well as ethereal and moody shadows and textures in color photography.
The exhibition will be juried by Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. The juror will select 24 photographs for exhibition at the gallery (April 1-20, 2019) and an additional 30 photographs for exhibition in the online gallery annex. An opening reception will be held Friday, April 5, 6-8:00 pm. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.
Black Box Gallery will provide free printing, matting, and framing for all selected works. Accepted photographers must provide high resolution TIFF or JPEG files. The gallery prints on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints will be kept in a flat file after the show for future promotion and sale. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing will occur without prior consent. Entry fee is $35.00. Submissions must include 1-5 images. International eligibility.
